Gallery at the Werkshack featured talented emerging artists from Oakland and beyond. Our solo exhibitions showcased guest artists. We were located among many art venues in Uptown Oakland on 25th Street. The Werkshack studios are still operating.

Christine Ferrouge was a resident artist of the Werkshack and directed the gallery. She is a current member of GearBox Gallery, Los Angeles Art Association, Oakland Art Murmur Venues Committee and is the director of Art Route Oakland.

It has been a wonderful journey and gift to be on 25th Street Oakland curating and loving the art community in Oakland and beyond through my time at the Werkshack. As this chapter closes and I say goodbye to the Werkshack, I'm reflecting on the last 6 years and all the good that has transpired... as an artist, art professional and community member of the local art scene.
.
In 2017, I began curating exhibitions in the front store space and called it "Gallery at the Werkshack" to start our application process to officially join Oakland Art Murmur.
.
Since then, I've organized 28 exhibitions here, 20 of which were solo shows that I curated for local emerging artists. It was an honored to also exhibit some spectacular artists-curators.
.
Some of the solo artists were: Amy Oats, David Burke, Dickson Schneider, Dulama LeGrande, Emily Maddigan, Francis Baker, James Shefik, Jamie Banes, Jan Watten, Laura Hapka, Susan Aulik, Shannon Hood, Raymond Wong, and Yoni Mattayaou.
.
Many other artists showed with us as well, and you can find them here on the past exhibitions pages.
.
I have loved every minute of sharing artists' work with the interesting and engaged art fans in the Bay. The best part of Oakland Art Murmur First Fridays is when folks come in and unexpectedly encounter contemporary fine art that resonates with their hearts and minds. This included the monthly rotating shows of the paintings in my studio at the Werkshack and I always cherished the honest reactions and responses.
.
THANK YOU FOR COMING OUT TO SEE ART
.
Weekly, you can find my paintings Thurs.-Sat. noon-5pm at GearBox Gallery Oakland in the member exhibition space. I will have a featured show there again next year.
.
You can currently find my painting at Gallery 825 in Los Angeles.
FELICITOUS through June 24.
